Pterygium surgery is a procedure performed to remove noncancerous conjunctiva growths (pterygia) from the eye.
The conjunctiva is the clear tissue covering the white part of the eye and the inside of the eyelids. Some cases of a pterygium produce little to no symptoms. Severe overgrowth of conjunctiva tissue can cover the cornea and interfere with your vision.
Chalazion Surgery
A chalazion that does not go away on its own may need to be surgically removed. Chalazion surgery is performed by an ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon, a doctor who specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgeries involving the eyelids and certain other parts of the face.
The surgery may be performed in adults or children. Local anesthesia or general anesthesia may be used, though the latter is more common for young children.
